Obituary of Thomas B. Miles

ST. JOHNSVILLE – Mr. Thomas B. Miles, 79, of Lassellsville, passed away suddenly at his home, with his loving family always by his side, on Friday, April 19, 2019. He received the utmost professional care from emergency personnel and his family is grateful.

He was born on August 29, 1939, in Little Falls, New York, the son of the late Harry and Margaret (Finch) Miles. He has been a resident of the Oppenheim-Ephratah area for many years, graduating from school there. He married Evelyn A. Smith, on June 11, 1960, a dedicated union that lasted over 58 years. Tom Miles was currently a Town of Ephratah Councilman and worked with the Highway Department for many years. His family was first and foremost in his life, and he especially loved Saturday gatherings!

He is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyn; his children, Scott Miles and his wife, Carla, of St. Johnsville, and Kathy Brown and her husband, Darren, of Dolgeville; his many grandchildren, Brittany and her husband, Michael Pawelek, of St. Johnsville, Seth Miles and Mallory Hansen, of Johnstown, Tyler Miles, of St. Johnsville, Preston Brown and Danielle Petkovsek, of Herkimer, Keagan and Rose Brown, of Dolgeville, and Sasha Brown, of Dolgeville; great-grandchildren, Mason Pawelek and Wyatt Brown; and he also leaves several nieces and nephews and In-Laws, including a very special brother-in-law, Richard “Dick” Smida, of St. Johnsville, who was always there for us, as well as a very special cousin, Larry Miles and his wife, Ginny.

Funeral services will take place Friday, April 26, 2019, at 11:30 AM, at the West St. Johnsville Cemetery. We anticipate being joined by Pastor Thomas Flanders, Jr. who will preside.
